On 25 April The UK past another milestone with over 20,0000 recorded Corvid deaths according to government published statistics. And more than 148,337 affected, representing an infection to death of over 13%! These statistics don't include the infections or death rates outside NHS hospitals which many estimates to be proportionately higher. Why because accurate and timely figures aren't available!  On 23 04 20 the UK Financial Times article estimated that COVID 19 deaths were as many as 41,000. This is over twice the Government published figure. Many relatives and friends across England are feeling helpless and frustrated not being able to help or visit their loved ones who are now isolated in care homes. The event now facing us is unprecedented in recent memory. This is a war but not between nations but against an air more virus COVID-19 Right now we seem not prepared as a nation to fight this virus head-on. With equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) in short supply. Like other major global challenges through our history we will put together supported by our belief as a nation in our faith, our government and in this instant the NHS and ability of care homes to cope, to do the right thing. But is this just wishful thinking? The vast majority of privately owned care homes in England may not be able to cope in the short term?
